Frequently asked questions: game card holders
How do the games work?
CharityMania games are all exciting, no-skill necessary sweepstakes based on sports. All game cards have an equal chance to win prize money based on the performance of the random teams pre-printed on the back of the cards. Game card holders do not require any skill or knowledge of the sport. You do not pick any of the teams or predict who will win games. All teams are pre-printed on the game cards and have an equal, and random, chance of winning based on the points they score.
For example, our popular FootballMania game cards contain 3 random teams in each of the 18 weeks of the pro football season (you get 3 new teams each week). A game card’s value is equal to the total combined points scored by the 3 teams printed on the card in a given week. Every week, the 15 highest scoring game cards and the 3 lowest scoring game cards all win prizes. There are 4,960 unique game cards in a game, each of which has a minimum 1 in 15.7 chance to win a prize during the season. All of our other fundraisers work similarly, but use different teams from their respective sports.

If you have a game card, make sure to enter the number on the CharityMania website to see if you are a winner. You do not need to take any action in order to win, but you can play along and have fun tracking your card!
How do I win prize money?
In order to be eligible to win, the participating organization must activate your game card. Electronic game cards are automatically activated and eligible to win. If you have a paper game card, make sure the participating organization wrote down your contact information on the stub that was attached to the bottom. They should have detached the stub and kept it. The stub is the way they will know that you are the owner of that game card, and will know how to contact you if you win prize money.

How do I collect the prize money that I won?
If your game card wins prize money, the organization running the fundraiser will know automatically that your game card is a winner. You do not need to follow along or take any action in order to win. Your game card is automatically entered to win once it is activated by the participating organization.
Once you are a winner, the participating organization will contact you to pay you the prize money. They will use the ticket stub that was attached to the original ticket in order to identify you. The stub contains your official contact information. CharityMania works with the participating organization to make sure that you get paid.
If you have any questions about prize money, please contact the participating organization or use the form located at the bottom of this page. Please note, CharityMania does not have any of the contact information from anyone who has a paper game card. Only the participating organization has this information on the stubs they have collected.
Do I need to register my ticket, or is that done for me?
The organization that sold you the ticket will register your ticket sale and activate your game card.
When you buy a paper ticket, the person that sold you the ticket must write down your contact information on the stub attached to the bottom of the ticket. They will then tear off that stub and give it to the person who is running the fundraiser. When the fundraiser’s administrator gets the stub for a sold ticket, they will activate your game card and then keep the stub in a safe place for future reference. If your game card wins prize money, the stub is the way in which they will know who won and how to contact you.
If you buy an electronic CharityMania ticket, you are automatically entered into the sweepstakes and do not need to do anything else to win. The participating organization will contact you directly if you win prize money.
What if one of the teams on my game card has a bye (or does not play)?
Teams that do not play for any reason (or have a bye) are assigned their score from the last regular season game in which the team had a score. For example, if a team has a bye in Week 8, then their score from Week 7 is used. If the “bye” occurs in the first week of the NFL season, then we will use the last regular season game played in the prior season
Replacement scores for bye-weeks are needed in our FootballMania game because the game cards are printed before the pro football schedule is released. Also the schedule can change unexpectedly (for example due to the coronavirus). We don’t know who will have byes until after people have purchased tickets. See contingency plan details for more information.
What do I do if I have lost my game card?
CharityMania only knows what ticket numbers have been distributed. We do not know the names of the people who acquire the CharityMania Tickets and therefore have no way of determining what ticket you’ve acquired. As a result, we are unable to retrieve a ticket that has been lost. To retrieve your ticket, you must contact the organization that provided you with the ticket.
What happens if my game card's score is tied with another game card?
If two or more game cards are tied with the the same value (such as the total combined points scored by the 3 football teams printed on a card in a given week), then a tiebreaker is used to determine the winner. In FootballMania, “total net yards gained” by the football teams is the primary tiebreaker. The more total net yards gained, the higher the overall tiebreaker score.
Each game has its own tiebreaker rules, but all work similarly to FootballMania. See the official rules for each game to view specific tiebreaker details.
